When What You've Learned No Longer Works
At 20 years old Charles was 100% certain what he wanted to do with my life: become a Baptist pastor. And he dedicated his young adulthood to learning ancient languages, basic counseling skills, organizational leadership principles, and how to entertain large groups of people for 40 minutes with new content every week.   And then, in his 40's almost everything he thought he knew didn't work anymore.  This talk is about his lifelong learning journey and about embracing (un)knowing and starting all over again (and again and again).

Learning While Working: Evaluating Impact
When done correctly, Structured On-the-Job Training programs can meet many of your organization's most pressing needs. Learners get up to speed faster, retain information longer, apply what they've learned immediately, and can demonstrate competency in identified key skill areas. All of this means a higher skilled workforce, but only if we can validate that such behavior changes actually have impact. In this session we will look at how that impact can be monitored, measured, and reported.

Aligning Behavior and Performance for the Future of Work
The McKinsey Quarterly (2020) posed the following question: What story will people tell about your organization over the next ten years? Will they celebrate an enthusiastic innovator that thrived by adapting workforce skills and ways of working to the demands of the new economy? Or will they blame poor financial or operational results and unhappy employees on a short-sighted or delayed talent strategy?

In this session, you will learn the importance of Aligning Behavior and Performance for the Future of Work.

Audience Impact Moments: The Key to Delivering Engaging Virtual Programs
Ever wish you could still deliver training by standing up in front of an audience? Social distancing has taken the social out of training as we have moved into a virtual world. Contrary to popular belief, virtual programs possess the opportunity of more personal connection to you as a presenter than live audiences.
So how do you keep people mentally engaged while they view you (and other attendees) on a screen rather than physically in a room? Programs today require that we use a variety of methods to artistically craft moments of mental and emotional impact. This workshop will provide specific techniques and access to a vault of material to use in capturing both the heart and mind of your attendees. You’ll walk away with a process using critical audience impact moments to keep the attention of the audience and open their minds to the techniques and strategies you are presenting. By taking attendees on a learning journey, not just dump information.

Learning Objectives
  • Winning the competition for the mind of a Virtual Learner
  • Learn how to charting the emotional curve of a program
  • Why tempo is key to on-line training: Master the metronome
  • Are you using humor while you teach? Easy ways to punch your material even if you are not funny.
  • Speaking with word pictures – the power of the story
  • It’s time for props!
“I was once told that today audiences require that not only we present information, we have to dig channels that open paths to their minds and hearts. Both have to be engaged to learn and more importantly grow. Only when we engage both the minds and hearts of our teams, as presenters or leaders does the growth of the individual or the company take place. When we do, we create hope and an atmosphere that it is safe to try new or different things. In order to dance you have let go of the bar." - Mike Lejeune

Future Readiness Panel
According to TD.org, the pace of change requires constant upskilling and reskilling of the workforce. Future readiness requires intellectual curiosity and continuous scanning of the environment to stay abreast of forces shaping the business world, employees and their expectations, and the talent development profession. Monitoring emerging trends and technologies is essential to prepare for the demands of future learners. A commitment to continuous professional development is critical to ensure the capability to handle the changes in how work is done in the years ahead. Fostering environments that promote innovation and creativity will help position organizations to become future-focused.

In the discussion, our panelist will share facts and personal experiences, express opinions and perspectives, and answer questions on:
•    The importance of creating opportunities for a workforce to be future-ready
•    How to advocate the tremendous benefits of being future-ready to both the employees and businesses
•    Understand how investing in reskilling and upskilling impact organizational culture and strategy
•    How reskilling or upskilling the workforce by an organization creates a fully developed, well-trained workforce that enhances its employees' capabilities and retention.
